Initial Proposal

Revised Proposal

Breadth: Acoustical
The Lewis Katz Building has various zones used for multiple purpose. There are classrooms, court room, auditorium, offices, conference rooms and library stacks. The different purposes zones require different acoustical design to achieve the desire acoustical performance. The acoustical performance of the different rooms in the Lewis Katz Building might be influenced by the change of the mechanical systems. Especially the classrooms next to or above the mechanical room. The dedicated heating system might influence their acoustical performance. Research and simulations for major zones are required to achieve the desire acoustic properties.
Breadth: Electrical
The electrical system needs to be modified when the new heating systems is added to the building. The TES system is expected to reduce the size of the pump by shifting the load. The change in the equipment will affect the wire size. The transformer size and back-up generator size might need modification, too. Therefore, a simulation of the electrical system after the new systems is installed will give a better view of the building’s overall energy performance.
